Two new entries added to UNIPOWER Europe’s PowerCassette switching power-supply family are specifically designed for Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications. The PCP7000-POE and TPCP7000- POE chassis-mount, hot-swap power supplies meet IEEE 802.3af, which defines the specifications to deliver power over standard Ethernet cables.

At 1U high, these units offer 48Vdc at 1200W with full power factor correction. Up to three hot-swap units can be housed together in a 19in. rack, and they bring a total power output of 3600W. Input voltage range falls within the universal 85 to 264VAC. In addition, all models feature a 5V standby output. Output isolation, which is an important requirement for PoE applications, is 1500VAC.

Ambient operating temperature ranges from 0 to 70°C, and cooling is performed by integral fans. A number of the PowerCassettes’ features are designed to simplify their application. These include active current sharing, LED status indicators and optional I2C serial data bus control and monitoring.
