Building on the established M16C line of 16-bit microcontrollers that combine register- and accumulator-based architectures to achieve high-speed processing and RISC-like performance, the new M16C/24 family of µCs has been designed for use in self- or bus-powered, full-speed (12-Mbit/s), Universal Serial Bus (USB) peripheral applications. Conforming to USB v1.1, M30240 controller, the first member of the M16C/24 family, supports all USB transfer types- isochronous, bulk, control and interrupt- with 32 to 128 bytes of FIFO.The µC also integrates a PLL that provides the USB block’s 48-MHz clock, a dc-to-dc converter that eliminates the need for an external 3.3V supply, and an analog transceiver. It also has ROM, RAM, A/D converter, LED and current drivers, “wake-up” pins, watchdog timer, UARTs, and more.
