Said to be a first, the SP6682 current-regulated charge pump and white LED driver IC employs the company’s proprietary AutoBoost feature. This unique technology is said to deliver the high efficiency of an X1.5 mode charge pump and the high drive capability of an X2 mode charge pump with greater than 100 mA of output current at a 2.8V input. It enables the IC to automatically transition from X2 boost mode to X1.5 boost mode based on battery input voltage. The device also includes PWM dimming and complete input/output disconnect in shutdown. Available in a 10-lead, 3 mm x 3 mm MLP and a 10-lead MSOP, operating temperature range is from -40_C to +85_C. Price starts at $0.83 each/10,000. SIPEX CORP, Billerica, MA. (978) 671-1907.
