An exclusive packaging that targets backlighting and signage applications is the earmark of a line of high-brightness white LEDs. The UPWLEDxx devices take advantage of the company's Powermite packaging technology in the rugged application-specific Optomite version created solely for LEDs. Optomite products offer a viewing angle ideal for backlighting applications and optimized for high-level thermal resistance. The Optomite package offers excellent color consistency with a patent-pending process for handling the phosphors that control LED color. This process provides superior consistency across the color spectrum of a single LED, as well as across a production lot of LEDs. Besides backlighting and signage, the high-brightness white LEDs suit applications such as keypads, panel/button/switch indicators, signals, and marker lights. Available now, the UPWLEDxx parts cost $0.85 each in low volumes.
