Controller Elevates Client SSD Performance/Power Ratio

Sept. 25, 2013
Developers of client and NAND-cache solid-state-disk (SSD) solutions looking to boost performance and cut power consumption could opt for Silicon Motion’s SATA Revision 3.1 (6 Gbytes/s) SSD controller.

Developers of client and NAND-cache solid-state-disk (SSD) solutions looking to boost performance and cut power consumption could opt for Silicon Motion’s SATA Revision 3.1 (6 Gbytes/s) SSD controller. The SM2264EN features sequential read of up to 540 Mbytes/s and sequential write up to 410 Mbytes/s. It’s capable of up to 80,000 random read I/O operations/s (IOPS) and up to 75,000 random write IOPS. Power consumption averages to 60 mW. Advanced error-correction-code (ECC) management and wear-leveling firmware also help increase performance and reliability. A configurable ECC engines helps maintain consistent data throughput and performance throughout the entire SSD lifecycle. Support is included for high toggle, Open NAND Flash Interface (ONFI), and asynchronous NAND. The SM2264EN supports MLC, TLC, and SLC NAND flash from all major NAND suppliers.
