Set to invade graphics, networking and consumer applications, the company's 143-, 166- and 183-MHz DDR SDRAMs are claimed to be the industry's fastest 2M x 32 devices. Designated as the HY5DU663222, the memory devices are offered in a 100-pin QFP package and are said to be ideally suited for multiple applications and to enable graphics and networking designs to increase bandwidth by over 65% compared to the 200-MHz SDR.
The device's granularity and bandwidth makes them suitable for lookup table and cache applications of networking designs. According to the company, the part is more attractive from a price-per-bit view compared to SRAM, which has traditionally been used in networks.
The 2M x 32 166-MHz DDR DRAM is available in sample quantities, priced at $21, with volume production scheduled for Q2 this year. Pricing for the 2M x 32 143- and 183-MHz components will be announced soon.
