Flash Cards' Capacity Is Doubled

Using a new generation of flash memory technology, SanDisk has doubled the capacity of its CompactFlash (CF) cards, MultiMediaCards, Type II PC Cards, FlashDrives, and flash chipsets. The products are based on a new 128-Mbit binary flash chip. With that chip, the firm's highest capacity CF cards double in capacity from 48 Mbytes to 96 Mbytes, Type II PC Cards double from 220 Mbytes to 440 Mbytes, flash chipset capacity rises from 128 Mbits to 256 Mbits, and MultiMedia Cards' top capacities rise to 16 Mbytes from 8 Mbytes.
