Packing 4 GB of storage into a quad die package, the OneNand flash memory is intended for small portable electronics such as 3G mobile phones, PDAs, a new generation of gaming systems and high-performance digital cameras. It operates on a supply voltage of 1.8 V, reducing power consumption by nearly half compared with memory chips that run on 3.3 V. The quad die package (QDP) stacks four 1 GB memory chips in a 90-nm production process. Dimensions are 11 mm x 13 mm x 1.4 mm high. The sustained data-read speed is 108 MB/s, four times faster than conventional flash memory. Write speed is 10 MB/s, much faster than NOR flash memories. The 4 GB storage space can hold 250 sequential photographs from a 4-Mpixel camera phone or up to 120 music files. SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO LTD., San Jose, CA. (408) 544-4000
