The company now offers its 39 series, SuperFlash-based, multi-purpose flash (MPF) family of products in a small, 48-ball µBGA package. Measuring just 6 mm x 8 mm, the package is claimed to be the industry's smallest µBGA package for flash memory devices. These tiny devices aare well-suited for use in space-constrained products, such as PDAs, GPS devices, cell phones, Bluetooth modules, handheld games, and small form factor hard-disk drives.
Other features include a single 3V to 3.6V operating voltage for read and write, organization as either x16 for a 1 to 16 Mb density or x8 for a 512 Kb to 16 Mb density, uniform 4 KB or 2K word sectors, read/access times from 35 to 90 ns, a greater than 100 years data retention, 100,000 cycle endurance, and a programming time of 14 µs per byte or word program typical, and 18 ms for sector erase typical. The SST39VF400A is available now and is priced at $3.34 each/100,000.
