IP Coprocessor Raises Circuit Density Bar

Nov. 1, 2002
Assuming the position as the industry’s highest-density, highest-performance full-ternary Internet Protocol (IP) coprocessor, this 256K x 72 device operates at 100 million searches per second (MSPS) with a performance upgrade of 250 MSPS

Assuming the position as the industry’s highest-density, highest-performance full-ternary Internet Protocol (IP) coprocessor, this 256K x 72 device operates at 100 million searches per second (MSPS) with a performance upgrade of 250 MSPS becoming available in the near future. The co-processor includes dynamic database management, said to improve system performance and lower power consumption when compared to alternative devices. A unique re-issue feature eliminates extraneous clock cycles during multiple database searches to allow up to 576-bit wide sustained searches at maximum device speed. In addition, the coprocessor supports network processor units (NPUs) and application specific integrated circuits (ASICs). Available now in a 472-ball BGA, pricing for company’s family of IP coprocessors begins at $60 each/10K. For additional information on the new IP coprocessor, contact IDT, Santa Clara, CA.
