M.2 SATA 6G SSDs Push Performance To 500 Mbytes/s

StorFly M.2 SATA 6G (SATA III) solid-state drives (SSDs) developed by Virtium come in two classes: PE-class modules based on SLC NAND flash (‒40 to 85°C operating temperature range) and CE-class versions based on MLC NAND flash. The former comes in 8- to 256-Gbyte capacities, the latter in 30- to 480-Gbyte capacities. To help meet space-constrained system requirements, the modules are available in 42- and 80-mm lengths, with 60- and 110-mm modules offered upon customer request. Enhanced read performance along with upgraded error-correcting code and wear-leveling capabilities help boost reliability and endurance. Inclusion of the company’s vtGUARD power-fail protection technology protects against potential data corruption due to unexpected power loss. The SSDs will find homes in embedded infrastructure applications such as networking base stations, industrial automation equipment, casino gaming, and data-logging systems.
