Intended for use in high-performance computers using the Rambus main memory system, which provides peak data transfer rates of 1.6 GB/s, the Rambus DRAM ICs are claimed as the smallest in the industry thanks to use of 0.20-µm process technology.

Intended for use in high-performance computers using the Rambus main memory system, which provides peak data transfer rates of 1.6 GB/s, the Rambus DRAM ICs are claimed as the smallest in the industry thanks to use of 0.20-µm process technology. The 128- and 144-Mbit chips measure just 103.19 mm2 and 114.15 mm2, respectively. Both devices are available at speeds of 600 MHz, 711 MHz, and 800 MHz to support PC600, PC700 and PC800 applications. The 144-Mbit x 18 memory ICs provide 128 Mbits of usable memory, plus extra bits to support error correction code.
