Groomed for high-end PC and server storage markets, the company is sampling its 1.8" and 2.5" 64-GB solid state drives (SSDs) with a SATA II and native SATA interface. The drives specify a sequential write speed of 100 MB/s and a sequential read speed of 120 MB/s. The SATA II SSD combines a 50-nm, single-level-cell 8-Gb flash chip with a proprietary SATA controller and supporting software. It features a 3-Gb/s interface speed and consumes half as much power as current hard drives in notebook PCs and about one-tenth the power of enterprise-class 15,000-rpm hard drives in servers.
