Introduced as the industry's first serial EEPROM to support the Advanced Communications Riser Special Interest Group (ACR SIG) specifications, the 24LC09 features a non-standard address that allows a computer to automatically detect and configure riser cards for plug-and-play capability. The system BIOS of an ACR-compatible computer can communicate with the riser card, making it completely transparent to the operating system. The serial EEPROM meets the ACR SIG specs as a custom 8K I2C device with an 1011xxx address and operation from a 2.5V to 5.5V supply over a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. Intended applications include: PC audio modem riser cards supporting modems; LANs and WANs; wireless communication products; and more. Available on tape-and-reel or tubes, pricing is $0.45 each/1,000.
