The 24AA02E48, 25AA02E48, and 11AA02E48 serial EEPROM chips integrate EUI-48 and EUI-64 compatible MAC addresses and work on standard busses, such as SPI, I2C, and UNI/O. They provide up to 1.5 Kb of EEPROM and eliminate the need for users to burn a unique MAC address into every microcontroller, enabling quick integration and a shorter time to market at lower costs. Additionally, the built-in MAC addresses enable designers to buy addresses only when needed and also eliminate the need for serialization and programming. Development support comes by way of the MPLAB starter kit for serial memory products (Part # DV243003). Prices for the 24AA02E48 I2C device in five-pin SOT-23 and SOIC packages, 25AA02E48 SPI device in six-pin SOT-23 and SOIC packages, and the11AA02E48 UNI/O device in three-pin SOT-23 and SOIC packages are $0.20, $0.31, and $0.25 each/10,000, respectively. Price for the DV24003 kit is $79.98. MICROCHIP TECHNOLOGY INC., Chandler, AZ. (888) 628-6247.
