Breaking ground as an industry first, the SJA2020 32-bit, ARM7-based microcontroller integrates both Control Area Network (CAN) and Local Interconnect Network (LIN) gateway functionality. The goal of this topology is to reduce component count and centralize communications in IVN systems by replacing several 8-bit devices with one 32-bit MCU. Additionally, it allows applications within a vehicle to communicate across different serial bus systems. Features include CPU operation up to 60 MHz, 256 KB of embedded flash memory, and support for up to six CAN channels and four LIN masters. Samples of the SJA2020 are available now in a 144-pin package with production slated for the Q4. ROYAL PHILIPS ELECTRONICS, San Jose, CA. (408) 617-4700.
