An enhanced version of the firm’s PeliCAN functionality and hardware support for the CAN Transport Layer are provided in the P8xC591 microcontroller. The 80C51 derivative is designed for industrial and system control uses, such as photocopiers and factory-floor systems. The MCU operates at 6 clocks per cycle, achieving two times the throughput at the same clock frequency. Other features include a watchdog timer, 16 kbytes of internal program memory that’s externally expandable to 64 kbytes, three 16-bit timer/counters, and 32 I/O pins. There’s also a 10-bit A/D converter with six multiplexed analog inputs and a fast 8-bit conversion option.
