Dubbed one of the most scalable portfolios of mixed signal ARM Cortex-M4 microcontrollers (MCUs) in the industry, the Kinetis family of 90 nm, 32-bit MCUs includes more than 200 low-power devices with comprehensive enablement for consumer and industrial applications. They offer a wide selection of human-machine interfaces (HMIs), connectivity, and safety and security peripherals as well as multiple performance and memory options. Kinetis MCUs are built using the company’s 90-nm thin-film storage technology with FlexMemory capability; configurable electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM). The MCUs also share the same software enablement and ultra-low power flexibility as ColdFire+ MCUs. The first five general-purpose Kinetis MCU families are expected to sample in the second half of 2010 with production planned for early 2011.
