Based on the 32-Bit ARM-7 general-purpose microprocessor, the TMS470 series of microcontrollers contains seven devices with flash memory sizes from 64 KB to 1 MB. A high-end timer (HET) allows designers to customize designs for pulse-width modulation, capture and compare functions or set up 32 programmable I/O channels. A multi-buffer ADC with 1.5 µs conversion time and a CAN (Controller Area Network) controller for either standard or high-end CAN control are on-chip. Communications interfaces include an SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface), a multi-buffer SPI and an SCI (Serial Communications Interface). The seven devices, A64, A128, A256, A288, A512, A768 and A1024 offer memory sizes of 64 kB, 128 KB, 256 KB, 288 KB, 512 KB, 768 KB and 1,024 MB, respectively. The A64, A128 and A256 operate at 48 MHz, while the remaining devices run at 60 MHz. Pricing for the A64, A128 and A288 is $4.95 each/1,000, and for the A288, A512, A768 and A1024 is $8.95 each/1,000. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924.
