Based on the company's 8-bit 68HC08 family, the advanced 68HC908AB32 flash microcontroller brings the flexibility of flash memory to a broad range of DigitalDNA solutions such as appliances, data loggers, industrial equipment and auto- motive body electronics. The flash memory on the new IC is capable of write/ erase cycling to 10,000 cycles and programming as fast as 2 ms for a 64-byte block. It is also in-circuit and in-application programmable, designed to allow OEMs to program late in the manufacturing cycle and make upgrades remotely in the field. Key features of the chip include: 32K bytes of in-system programmable flash memory; 512 bytes byte-erasable EEPROM; 1,012 bytes of user RAM; low-voltage inhibit with optional reset; dual 16-bit, 4-channel timers; and an 8-channel, 8-bit A/D converter. In a 64-pin QFP, the chip is priced at $5.95 each/50,000.
