The eZ80 Acclaim family of eight-bit microcontrollers (MCUs) provides users with up to 256 KB of reprogrammable flash memory and Ethernet MAC and TCP/IP protocols. One of three devices in the family, the F91 operates at clock speeds up to 50 MHz with the ability to address 16 MB of address space and perform 24-bit integer math. The device includes a 10/100 Base-T Ethernet media access controller (MAC) with an 8 KB frame buffer, an infrared encoder and decoder, two UARTs with independent baud-rate generators, an I2C bus with clock generator, and a serial peripheral interface (SPI) with its own clock rate generator. In addition to the 256 KB of flash, the MCU includes 256 bytes of device-configuration flash and 16 KB of SRAM with access speeds of less than 20 ns. Other features include four counter/generators with an integrated, 32 kHz oscillator and a PLL. The F92 and F93 devices are designed for low-cost applications that require clock speeds up to 20 MHz and just a few features of the F91. The F92 includes 128 KB of flash and 8 KB of SRAM and the F93 provides 64 KB of flash and 4 KB of SRAM. In a 144-pin package, the F91 is priced at $16.05 (F91AZ05SC) and $18.45 (F91AZ05HC) each/10,000. The F92 and F93 come in 100-pin packages and are priced at $9.29 (F92AZ020SC), $10.68 (F92AZ020HC), $8.64 (F93AZ020SC), and $9.94 (F93AZ020) each/10,000. ZILOG INC., San Jose, CA. (408) 558-8500.
