Aimed at entry-level 32-bit embedded Internet of Things (IoT) applications, Renesas Electronics’ cost-effective RX110 microcontrollers combine RX core performance with the company’s True Low Power features.

Aimed at entry-level 32-bit embedded Internet of Things (IoT) applications, Renesas Electronics’ cost-effective RX110 microcontrollers combine RX core performance with the company’s True Low Power features. Run-mode power consumption drops to as low as 100 µA/MHz; wake-up time is 4.8 µs. There are three low-power modes, including the lowest power-down mode with a real-time clock, according to the company. Three operating speeds achieve 1.56 Dhrystone MIPS (DMIPS)/MHz throughput and 3.08 CoreMark/MHz. Included is a complete digital-signal-processing library (DSP) library, along with single-cycle multiple/accumulate and hardware-based divide capability to support audio processing and digital filtering, as well as sensor-based applications. Among the safety and security functions/peripherals are an on-chip clock frequency accuracy measurement circuit, data operation circuit, and cyclic redundancy check. The RX110 scales easily to Renesas’ mid- and high-end RX600 and RX200 MCU series. Applications include mobile healthcare, environmental sensors/detectors, smart appliances, and industrial and building automation.
