Combining security and increased storage capacity, the AT90SC320288RCT microcontroller is designed to meet the Common Criteria EAL5+ and Visa Level3 high-security requirements. The device incorporates a true random-number generator, unique chip ID, memories encryption, a memory protection unit and countermeasure functions to thwart a variety of attacks. The security portion is composed of a DES/3DES engine and an AdvX high-performance cryptographic accelerator whose embedded firmware is stored in a separate 32-KB ROM. Other memories are a 288-KB EEPROM, 320-KB user ROM and an 8-KB RAM. The device is based on an 8/16-Bit RISC SecureAVR CPU architecture. The microcontroller allows designers to upgrade their systems with more memory while reusing existing operating systems and application software. ATMEL CORP., San Jose, CA. (408) 441-0311.
