The Turbo µPSD3300 series expands the µPSD family of 8051-class embedded flash microcontrollers with devices that are said to outperform their predecessors by a factor of three. The new devices raise peak performance to 10 MIPS and add an extensive peripheral set. An instruction pre-fetch queue and a branching cache keep the MCUs near their 10 MIPS peak. Other enhancements include a 16-bit programmable counter array, 10-bit a/d converter, and SPI and IrDA interfaces. Peripherals include six PWM channels, an I2C master/slave bus controller, two standard UARTs, a watchdog timer, low-voltage detect, and up to 46 general-purpose I/O pins. In addition, the µPSD3300 JTAG in-system-programming interface has been enhanced to support JTAG emulation, eliminating the need for a hardware in-circuit emulator. Available in 52-pin and 80-pin TQFPs, the µPSD3333D-40T6 microcontroller is priced at $6.39 each/1,000. For more information, contact STMICROELECTRONICS INC., Lexington, MA. (781) 861-2650.
