Allowing nearly any text-based LCD to be controlled via a one-wire serial link, the EDE702 serial LCD interface IC is well-suited for embedded microcontroller applications where minimal I/O pin use is desired. The device performs full LCD control, including the creation of custom characters, scrolling text, cursor on/off, etc. With a 2400/9600 baud rate and selectable data polarity, the IC interfaces with most µCs capable of sending asynchronous serial data. Connection can be made without any type of voltage-level conversion.
