Based on PowerPC architecture, the PPC405EZ microprocessor performs high-performance networking duties with integrated features such as 32 KB of SRAM, CRAM-compatible external bus with arbitration, 64-bit bus, and an IEEE1588-compliant Fast Ethernet interface. Available in speeds from 100 to 400 MHz, the MPU consumes 0.6W typical. In addition to Ethernet, it supports three USB 1.1 ports with integrated PHYs and two CAN 2.0b ports. Other features include an 8-input, 10-bit a/d converter, 10-bit d/a converter, and a set-and-forget 15-channel Chameleon timer/PWM controller. The device comes in a 324-pin, 23 mm x 23 mm EPGA and in industrial and extended temperature ranges. Price for a 133-MHz version with an industrial temperature range is $15 each/10,000.
