DC Source Automatically Detects Open Sense Circuits

Aug. 1, 1999

A mobile communications dc source that can detect open sense connections where wires connecting the power source to the device under test are broken or dislodged is available in the enhanced HP 66311B dc source. The instrument lets users detect permanently or intermittently broken sense-wire connections automatically. Automatic detection of these broken connections helps users avoid incorrect battery charger calibration, inaccurate test results and low-voltage telephone shutdown caused by large, transient drops in voltage. This source offers 5A peak and 15V output in a half-rack package, along with two user-programmable compensation ranges to ensure stable power sourcing over a wide variety of wireless product input capacitance and load lead configurations.
