On a windy day, using a cell phone outdoors can be so noisy that conversation is impossible-or at least intolerable. To combat this noise, Cardo Systems, Inc. (www.cardowireless.com) has debuted the scala-500. This versatile, comfortable, and advanced Bluetooth headset for mobile phones weights a scant 0.58 oz. (17 g). Yet it offers up to 9 hrs. of talk time and one-week standby. Most importantly, the scala-500 incorporates the company's exclusive WindGuard technology to significantly reduce wind impact.

The wireless headset is equipped with ambient noise reduction. It provides superb audio quality regardless of windy outdoor conditions. The scala-500 also flaunts a speaker volume booster. Among the headset's other special features are echo-canceling technology for improved voice transmission and a directional microphone. For added convenience, the unit offers multi-level volume control, a mute function, voice dialing, automatic redial, call reject, and toggle control between the headset and phone.

The scala-500 is designed to rest easily and comfortably against the ear. It also can attach to sunglasses or eyeglasses. Users of the scala-500 can enjoy send/receive capability up to 30 ft. from their Bluetooth-enabled phones. The headset's Lithium-polymer battery, which recharges in just 2 to 4 hrs., provides enough power for a week's use.
