The NFC (Near-Field Communication) Forum has published its SmartPoster Record Type Definition (RTD) Specification, which supplies technical details needed to create records for smart poster "tags." The tags are ICs that store data that can be read by NFC-enabled devices. NFC is a short-range, standards-based wireless connectivity technology. It allows consumers to perform safe contactless transactions, access digital content, and connect electronics devices. The SmartPoster RTD Specification was developed for content providers seeking new and innovative ways of transmitting digital content to consumers. Smart posters are printed materials like that contain data tags. The RTD specification is the fifth specification release by the NFC Forum since August. All are available at no charge from the Forum's web site: www.nfc-forum.com.
