Tooled as viable and environmentally friendly replacements for aluminum, polymer, and high CV ceramic capacitors, the OxiCap Niobium Oxide (NbO), solid-electrolyte capacitors specify an ESR figure down to 55 m. The components are lead and halogen free, as well as non-burn up to their rated voltages. According to the company, they exhibit electrical characteristics similar to or better than tantalum devices. Features include reliability characteristics of 0.2% per 1,000 hours (500,000 hours MTBF) and a temperature rating up to 125°C. Voltage range is 1.8V to 6.3V, with a 10V version on the horizon. Prices range from $0.30 to $0.40 each/10,000 with lead times from four to six weeks. AVX CORP., Myrtle Beach, SC. (843) 448-9411.
