For heavy-duty applications in shock and vibration environments where high currents are present, the ESTA HDMK series of metallized-film, non-polarized capacitors have a reliability rating of 300 FIT and provide current ratings up to 150A. They are available with six voltage ratings from 900 Vdc to 2.7 kVdc and with inductance values of less than 50 nH. Dissipation factor is less than 8 x 10-3 at 1 kHz. Capacitance values range from 40 to 1,100 µF with a tolerance of ±5%; non-standard values are available upon request. Other features include a life expectancy of 100,000 hr. at 60°C, an operating temperature range from -40°C to 70°C at full voltage or 100ÞC at half voltage, and a terminal-to-terminal test voltage of 1.5 times the rated dc voltage for 10s. With a standard diameter of 84.4 mm, height options range from 105 to 266 mm. Prices start at $5 each/50K. VISHAY INTERTECHNOLOGY INC., Malvern, PA. (610) 644-1300.
