Expanding the company’s portfolio of high-reliability MIL PRF 49470 B level switch mode power supply (SMPS) capacitors are 500V SMPS capacitors in case codes 1, 2, and 6. Target applications include input/output filters in high-power and high-voltage power supplies as well as in bus filters, dc snubbers for inverters, and high-current power supplies. According to the company, the components are characterized by low ESR, low ESL, and high-current carrying capability, making them suitable replacements for aluminum and tantalum electrolytic capacitors. Additionally, their lead frames allow the capacitor to absorb the stress and strain that would cause a standard component to fail by providing strain relief via the lead frame itself. AVX CORP.
