Constructed of a solid functional polymer as the electrolyte and of lead-free, non-combustible materials, the PT and PTB tantalum chip capacitors boast of an ultra-low ESR, high ripple current submission, and high reliability over a rated life of 1,000 hr. at 105°C. And they can withstand reflow soldering for 40 seconds max. at 230°C (250°C peak). The PT series is said to offer up to 50% lower ESR than traditional manganese tantalum chips with 40 to 100 m? ESR at 20°C, 100 kHz. Rated voltages range from 2.5 to 10 Vdc with capacitance values extending from 33 to 680 µF. Sizes range from 3.5 mm x 2.8 mm x 1.9 mm high to 7.3 mm x 4.3 mm x 3.8 mm. The PTB series are enhanced versions of the PT series. They are available in voltages from 2.5 to 10 Vdc, in capacitance values from 100 to 1,000 µF, and have a 25-m? ESR at 20°C. Sizes range from 7.3 mm x 4.3 mm x 1.8 mm to 7.3 mm x 4.3 mm x 3.8 mm. Prices range from $0.30 to $0.74 each, depending on values and quantity. UNITED CHEM-CON, Rosemont, IL. (847) 696-2000.
