A new ac/dc power supply has been designed for medical applications and to reduce time-to-market. The Quikflex series has almost limitless configuration options and ships around a week for first customer-configured units. With power ratings up to 1,000W, the supply can be configured with between one and 12 independent, isolated outputs with standard output voltages of 1.45V to 28V. For medical applications, the units offer creepage of 12 mm and a low leakage current of less 300 µA. Seven adjustable output modules provide current rating options of 3A, 10A, 12A, 15A, 20A, 30A, and 80A. In addition to rapid production turn-around, time-to-market is further reduced by the fact that each delivered unit conforms to EN60601-1, UL 2601-1 and IEC 601-1. The product is based around a 2-transistor forward converter front end with planar magnetic main transformer technology and modular magnetic amplifier output stages. Four-slot Quikflex versions measure 270 mm x 127 mm x 65 mm, while six-slot versions measure 270 mm x 187 mm x 65 mm. Pricing starts at $285. C&D TECHNOLOGIES INC., Tucson, AZ. (800) 547-2537.
