\[July 18, 2006\] Offering what may be the industry's highest current rating in their size category, the NR6012 series wire-wound inductors boasts 11 members, one of which sports a 6 mm x 6 mm x 1.2 mm profile with a current rating of 1.73A. The inductors are targeted at dc/dc converter choke coil applications in LCD panels. Inductance values range from 3 µH to 100 µH and dc-resistance ratings fare from 92 mO to 2.18O. Abandoning conventional round drum/sleeve core technology, the series employs a unique sleeveless square-core winding that reportedly eliminates wasted space and thickens the lead wire inside the inductor to achieve the lowest possible dc resistance. Additionally, a special ferrite-resin covering further reduces component size and enables the higher current rating of 1A at 10 µH. Sample pricing is $0.30 each. TAIYO YUDEN INC., Schaumburg, IL.
