Low-profile, surface-mount Filmtrim plastic dielectric trimmer capacitors are now available in non-magnetic versions. The trimmers are made using nonferrous parts and plating so that they have a maximum relative permeability of only 1.0025. They measure only 6.8 mm x 5.4 mm x 2.6 mm, come in four capacitance ranges of from 0.5 to 4.5 pF and 1 to 20 pF, have a Q value of greater than 1,000 when measured at 10 MHz, and can operate over a -25°C to +85°C temperature range. Said to be superior to ceramic dielectric trimmers in stability, quality factor and moisture resistance, Filmtrim trimmers are suitable for flow and reflow soldering. Production pricing for 0.5 to 4.5 pF units (GSX364NM) is $0.46 each. More details are available from Bernice Feller at SPRAGUE-GOODMAN ELECTRONICS INC., Westbury, NY. (516) 334-8700.
