800W AC/DC Converter Drives IFF System Amps

April 26, 2010
The BC-751 800W ac/dc converter delivers eight outputs to provide power for solid-state RF amplifiers in airborne identification friend or foe (IFF) applications.

The BC-751 800W ac/dc converter delivers eight outputs to provide power for solid-state RF amplifiers in airborne identification friend or foe (IFF) applications. The eight outputs are +3.3 Vdc at 45A and +5 Vdc at 40A with ripple and noise figures of less than 100 mVp-p, -5 Vdc at 600 mA with ripple and noise of less than 50 mVp-p, +51 Vdc at 10A and +24 Vdc at 1A, and +12 Vdc at 8A, -12 Vdc at 5A, and +15 Vdc at 3A with ripple and noise of less than 120 mVp-p. The component accepts a three-phase, 155-Vac 400-Hz input with a power factor of at least 0.88 and a maximum inrush current of less than 13A. Overall efficiency is 77%. Other features include protection for over-current, over-voltage, and over-temperature, an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, and compliance to CE101 and CE 102 conducted emissions requirements per MIL-STD-461, and shock and vibration to IAW MIL-STD-810D.
