\[September 11, 2006\] Primarily poised for telecom and other communication systems, the non-isolated MPDRX series dc/dc converter modules are also useful in FPGA and microprocessor applications that require reliable regulation and a fast response to high-current transients. The modules promise to eliminate most of the effects of load-current transients by reducing output-voltage variations by up to 85%. They also exhibit a solid pass-through transient response, making them viable for use in intermediate bus architectures. Four models make up the series: the MPDRX002S and MPDRX004S in 33 mm x 13.5 mm x 8 mm surface-mount packages and the MPDRX103S and MPDRX104S in 50.8 mm x 5.8 mm x 14 mm SIL housings. They offer a variety of input-voltage ranges and programmable outputs, 16A and 12A outputs, efficiencies up to 90%, and an operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C. Each includes VOUT sensing, remote on/off (negative logic), plus short-circuit and over-temperature protection. Pricing is $10.25 each in volume. MURATA ELECTRONICS NORTH AMERICA INC., Smyrna, GA.
