The new V7dPC-04C series of non-isolated boost dc/dc converters seeks to satisfy the growing use of modest amounts of 5V power in applications dominated by 3.3V logic. Housed in an industry standard single-in-line package, these step-up devices operate over a 3V to 4V input range, while yielding a maximum output current of 4A. Designed with or without remote on/off, the converters boast of full-load efficiencies of more than 90%, achieving operation to 70°C with no derating. The V7PC-04C modules are claimed to be considerably cheaper than competitive products. They measure just 2.50" x 0.55" x 0.36". The series targets applications where a few amps of 5V power is required and a 3.3V source is used. The SIPs can deliver up to 20W of power, offer over-voltage and short-circuit protection, and cost $11.50 each/10K. BEL FUSE INC., Jersey City, N.J. (800) 235-3873.
