Accepting wide ranges of AC and DC input voltages and meeting worldwide single- and three-phase application requirements, the Bulletin 1606 line of switched-mode power supplies has been developed for use in low voltage control applications. The line consists of the 1606-XL standard and 1606-XLP compact switcher families. The standard units have a power boost capability for providing up to 15% additional power without any reduction in output voltage. The compact switchers are said to have a frame size that is 50% smaller than most comparable units and are DIN-rail mountable using spring-clamp terminations. And all units are said to offer an overload design that delivers up to 80% higher continuous current (above maximum device rating) at a reduced voltage, with no negative thermal effects. And identical units can be wired in parallel to provide 1+1 redundancy with no need for additional hardware. The Bulletin 1606 supplies offer efficiencies of from 85% to 93% and provide redundancy for 2.5A, 5A, 10A, 20A and 40A applications.
