1A DC/DC Transformer Driver Exhibits Low Noise And EMI

Sept. 1, 2002
In a thermally enhanced, 16-lead TSSOP-16E, the LT3439 1A, isolated push-pull dc/dc transformer handles inputs from 2.8V to 17.5V to drive an external center tapped transformer. Actual output voltage is defined by the turns ratio of the transformer.

The device is optimized to provide ultra-low noise and electromagnetic interference (EMI) by controlling the output switch voltage and current slew rates. Capable of reducing high-frequency harmonic content by 40 dB, the driver employs two 1A, current limited power switches at a 50% push-pull duty cycle. Slew rates for both output voltage and current can be controlled via a single external resistor. Pricing starts at $3.50 each/1,000. LINEAR TECHNOLOGY CORP., Milpitas, CA. (800) 454-6327.
