Offering the functionality of two discrete converters on one chip, the ADL5310 dual logarithmic converter gives designers of optical communications systems an alternative to multiple devices. The ADL5310 operates from a single supply of as little as 3 V to convert input currents over a 100-dB dynamic range. Containing two independent signal channels for photodiode interfacing, the device allows the transfer-function constants (slope and intercept) to be individually configured for each channel. Packaged in a 24-pin LFCSP, it costs $11.33 each in lots of 1000.
