A three-rail-by-dual-slot controller can support all system voltages required by PCI Express applications. The MIC2592A hot-swap power-control IC features an SMBus interface for sophisticated power management. All circuits needed to control external MOSFETs for the high-current 12- and 3.3-V rails are integrated on-chip. For the 3.3-V auxiliary rails, the IC includes all control circuitry, current sense, and power MOSFETs. For all rails, it provides safety features and fault protection. The MIC2592A comes in a 48-pin TQFP. Pricing for the MIC2592A power-control IC is $6.95 each in quantities of 25,000.
