Auto-Grade PMIC Packs Two DC/DC Converters, Two LDOs

The MAX16922 2.2-MHz, four-channel power-management IC integrates one high-voltage step-down converter, one low voltage step-down converter, two low-voltage LDO regulators, and a power-good reset output for voltage monitoring.

In either a 20-pin TQFN measuring 5 mm x 5 mm or a 4.5 mm x 6.5 mm TSSOP, the MAX16922 2.2-MHz, four-channel power-management IC integrates one high-voltage step-down converter, one low voltage step-down converter, two low-voltage LDO regulators, and a power-good reset output for voltage monitoring. Optimized for automotive apps, the high-voltage step-down converter delivers 1.2A and operates in the normal automotive battery range of 8V to 18V. It is also able to operate during load-dump transients up to 42V and cold-crank events down to 3.5V. The other three power rails are cascaded from the output of the high-voltage converter or one of the other converters. The 600-mA step-down converter operates with a 2.7V to 5.5V supply voltage while the two 300-mA low-dropout linear regulators operate with a supply from 1.7V to 5.5V.
