Promising easier design chores, higher reliability, and lower system costs, the FAN7316 and FAN7317 debut as the industry’s most integrated CCFL backlight inverter drive ICs for N-N half-bridge, push-pull, and P-N full-bridge LCD backlight

Promising easier design chores, higher reliability, and lower system costs, the FAN7316 and FAN7317 debut as the industry’s most integrated CCFL backlight inverter drive ICs for N-N half-bridge, push-pull, and P-N full-bridge LCD backlight inverter designs. Both provide a wide input voltage range and open-lamp protection and open-lamp regulation circuits. They can eliminate up to 30 external components in four lamp circuit inverter designs when compared to similar devices. Other shared features include selectable dimming polarity plus analog and burst dimming functions. The FAN7316 provides an input range from 4.5V to 24V and the FAN7317 accepts 6V to 25.5V. Both are available in lead-free, 20-pin SOIC packages that meet or exceed the requirements of the joint IPC/JEDEC standard J-STD-020C. Prices for the FAN7316 and FAN7317 are $1.48 and $1.55 each/1,000, respectively. FAIRCHILD SEMICONDUCTOR, San Jose, CA. (800) 341-0392.
