The 200-W and 400-W supplies can be programmed with up to 12 values using the waveform creator software provided. More complex waveforms can also be created using LabVIEW. These waveforms can be repetitive or single-shot, and they can be injected into the system under test and the results analysed, confirming the proper operation of the powered system or pinpointing a fault. Once stored, the programme can be run remotely or recalled and run directly using the Z+ front panel controls, obviating the need for a computer connection.
Typical applications for these power supplies would include simulating the characteristics of another power source in a test environment, such as car battery voltage transients, or the output of a solar array under different conditions.
Z+ power supplies also have a fast command processing time, output sequencing, and two programmable output pins that can be used to control isolation or polarity reversal relays, for example, without a separate power-line coupler (PLC).
