The output of what is called the industry's simplest, surface-mount dc/dc switching converter has been boosted up to 2A while retaining the same SO-8 package. The MIC4681 is designed for applications where a pulsed current is higher than the nominal current. Using only four external components, the device features a wide input range from 4V to 30V and can operate in environments where spikes and noise are present.
Other features include over 1A continuous current, adjustable output voltages down to 1.25V, a typical shutdown current of 1.5 µA, a switching frequency of 200 kHz, and efficiency up to 90%.
