Promising to deliver precise power control of multi-GHz processors and said to represent the industry’s first fully digital power architecture, the Digital Multiphase Power chipset consists of the PX3530 controller plus PX3510 power stage, as well as the company's transient regulator chips. The PX3530 digital multiphase controller manages up to six phases and allows digital programmability through a unique GUI. Programmable functions include the ability to drive two to six phases, AVP slope and offset, switching frequency range between 250 kHz and 1 MHz, high- and low-side FET non-overlap timing, loop compensation, and ATR. The PX3510 power stage integrates two MOSFET drivers and one control MOSFET in an 8 mm x 8 mm QFN package with temperature- and process-independent current sensing. Other features include a continuous output current up to 25A, an output voltage range of 0.3V to 1.85V, under-voltage detection and over-voltage protection, pulse-by-pulse peak current limiting, and support for five- and six-bit VID codes. Several development kits are available, including the PX3530-EV5 105A 1U for servers and workstations. The PX3530 developer kits are available now for $199.
