DC/DC Controller Hits 95% Efficiency

Jan. 17, 2012
The LTC3839 high-frequency-controlled, on-time single-output dual-phase synchronous step-down DC/DC controller achieves up to 95% efficiency with a 25A output when operating at 2 MHz.

The LTC3839 high-frequency-controlled, on-time single-output dual-phase synchronous step-down DC/DC controller achieves up to 95% efficiency with a 25A output when operating at 2 MHz. Operating frequency is selectable from 200 kHz to 2 MHz or can be synchronized to an external clock. A 30 ns minimum on-time allows for a high step-down ratio at very high operating frequencies. Up to 12 phases can be paralleled and clocked out of phase for applications up to 250A. Available in a 5 mm x 5 mm QFN-32 package, price starts at $3.18 each/1,000.
