High-Density 1200-W Power Supply Achieves 94% Platinum Efficiency

Nov. 7, 2013
The D1U54P series of front-end power supplies offers efficiency that’s greater than 94% and 28-W per-cubic-inch power density.

The D1U54P series of front-end power supplies offers efficiency that’s greater than 94% and 28-W per-cubic-inch power density. Crafted by Murata Power Solutions, the units measure 54.5 by 321.5 by 40 mm and fit in the 1U package format. The two models in the series offer an +12 V dc, 1200-W output and an auxiliary +5 V dc, 15-W output. Replete with power factor correction, the units accommodate a 90 to 264 V ac input range. An internal variable-speed fan provides forced-air cooling. Operating temperature ranges from 0 to 60°C. Hot-swapping and active current sharing allow for up to eight supplies to be connected together. Both devices contain overvoltage, overcurrent, and self-resetting overtemperature protection. PMBus management and an I2C interface with status indicators and boot loading are available. Applications include data centers, servers, storage subsystems, and datacom infrastructure equipment.
